How to Care for Your Bouquets

How to Care for Your Bouquets

Receiving a bouquet is a special moment, and with the right care, you can enjoy its beauty for as long as possible. At Flowers Valley, we want to make sure your flowers stay fresh and vibrant for days to come. Follow these simple tips to keep your bouquet looking stunning.

Bouquet Care Tips for Long-Lasting Freshness

Unwrap with Care: Upon receiving your bouquet, gently remove the wrapping, but leave any twine or ribbon that’s holding the flower arrangement together. This keeps the structure intact.

Trim the Stems: Using clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears, trim 1-2 inches off the stems at an angle. This allows for better water absorption. Ideally, cut the stems under running water to prevent air from blocking the water flow into the stems.

Use a Clean Vase: Choose a vase that is tall enough to support the flowers and fill it with fresh, clean water. Make sure the vase is thoroughly washed to eliminate bacteria that can shorten the life of your flowers.

Add Flower Food: Dissolve the flower food provided by Flowers Valley into the water. This gives your bouquet the nutrients it needs to stay vibrant. If you run out, you can mix your own solution with a teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of lemon juice in the water.

Change the Water Regularly: Every two days, change the water and clean the vase. This helps prevent bacteria from growing and keeps your bouquet fresh.

Keep Away from Heat and Sun: Place  your bouquet in a cool, shaded spot away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and drafts. Extreme temperatures can cause flowers to wilt faster.

Remove Fading Flowers: As individual flowers begin to wilt, remove  them from the arrangement to prevent them from affecting the others.

Extra Tips for Special Flower Types

Roses: Remove any leaves that will sit below the waterline in the vase to prevent rot. If your roses start to droop, you can revive them by re-cutting the stems and placing them in warm water for an hour.

Hydrangeas: Hydrangeas are thirsty flowers, so keep the water level high and change it frequently. If the blooms start to wilt, submerge the entire flower head in water for about 30 minutes to refresh them. Re-cut the stems afterwards to allow for better water absorption.

Tulips: These flowers continue to grow in water, so you may need to trim the stems every few days to maintain the arrangement’s appearance.

By following these simple steps, your bouquet from Flowers Valley will bring joy and elegance to your space for as long as possible. Enjoy the beauty and grace of your fresh flowers!
