How to care for tulips?
Put tulips in water, trim the stems, and they do their thing for a week. No fussing, no instructions. That simplicity is actually harder to pull off than it looks — which is why grocery store tulips flop by day two and well-conditioned ones stay upright and keep opening for days.

Fresh tulip flowers for every occasion

Roses make a statement. Tulips just show up nicely. Sometimes that's exactly what the situation calls for — a birthday that fell mid-week, a thank-you that doesn't need to be a whole thing, a friend who could use some color in their apartment. Tulip flowers fit those moments without overselling them.

What we like about tulips is that they don't ask anything of the recipient. There's no pressure attached. A tulip bouquet says "I was thinking about you" without requiring the other person to make a big deal of it. That's a harder thing to find than you'd expect in a flower shop.

We mix them with other flower bouquets from our seasonal rotation when it adds something, but a clean bunch of tulips on their own is genuinely hard to beat.

A lot of what gets sold as a tulip bouquet is just stems rubber-banded in cellophane. Ours aren't that.

When we build a bouquet we think about which stems are at the same stage of opening, how the colors actually sit next to each other, whether the whole thing has some shape to it. A bouquet that's half-open on one side and still closed on the other doesn't photograph well and it doesn't look intentional. We fix that before it leaves the studio.

They work well as birthday flowers because they feel celebratory without being loud about it. They're also one of the better choices for sympathy situations, where you want something genuine rather than something that just looks expensive. And if you're buying for yourself — which more people do than admit — a fresh tulip bouquet on a kitchen counter does a lot for a room.

If you've bought tulips near me from a regular shop and watched them collapse by day two, that's almost always a stem-cutting problem. Tulips keep drinking after they're cut, and if the cut isn't fresh they take in air instead of water and lose pressure in the stem. Get that right and they open slowly all week — each day a little different from the last.

We condition every stem before it goes into an arrangement. It's not a complicated step but most shops skip it.

Our tulip flower arrangements tend toward clean rather than full. When we add something alongside the tulips it's usually a bit of seasonal texture or something with a contrasting shape — not just extra volume to fill space.
