If you’ve ever held a bouquet of fresh peonies, you know why they’re one of the most requested flowers we carry at Flowers Valley. With soft, ruffled petals and dreamy colors, peonies add elegance to weddings, celebrations, and everyday gestures. But here’s the catch — peony season is fleeting, and availability is limited.
When are peonies in season?
In the Bay Area, peonies are usually in peak bloom from late April through early June, though some varieties extend into mid-June. These few weeks offer a window of floral magic that goes by fast — which is why we always recommend pre-ordering.
Where to buy peonies near you
You can find premium peonies at our Concord studio or online at flowersvalley.com. We hand-select our stems weekly from the San Francisco Flower Market, bringing in varieties like:
- Sarah Bernhardt – blush pink, full bloom
- Coral Charm – bright, romantic, and eye-catching
- Duchesse de Nemours – creamy white with a lemony scent
Peonies are available for flower delivery in the bay area or pickup at our studio.
Why peonies sell out fast
Peonies don’t like heat, they’re sensitive to travel, and they’re only in bloom for a few weeks. Combine that with high demand during spring weddings and Mother’s Day, and it’s no surprise they go quickly. When you see them listed on our website, we suggest ordering right away — they might not be there tomorrow.
How to extend the life of your peonies
- Trim stems diagonally and place in fresh, cool water
- Keep out of direct sun and heat
- Refresh the water daily for best bloom performance
Whether you’re treating yourself or sending a special gift, peonies always deliver that wow factor. Check our seasonal flowers section or reach out for a custom peony bouquet while they’re in bloom.
